IT’S. HERE. Yes, we’re talking about our brand new Gibson x Hi Sugarplum collection: RESORT 2020! This is our fifth time partnering up with Cassie Freeman of the popular fashion and lifestyle blog, Hi Sugarplum! and each collection is more vibrant than the last. So let’s get to it! 

This year’s collection is an ode to the Amalfi coast. Each piece was inspired by the picturesque Italian Riviera – highlighting vibrant blues and bold textiles. And because Cassie is a lover of all things travel, we knew we wanted to pull from some of her very own experiences in Italy! Whether or not you have an upcoming vacay, this collection acts as an escape from the winter blues. Our bold pieces will whisk you away to a resort full of life, adventure, and most importantly… WARMTH!

The RESORT 2020 collection itself, is a play on years’ past collections but features even more bright and bold colors, unique styles, and several new patterns and textiles to choose from. The collection offers 11 different styles, for a total of 32 versatile pieces. We aimed to stay within one consistent color palette (think bold blues, fresh yellows, and poppy reds) making it easier for you to mix and match for all your upcoming warm-weather getaways! All you need to add is a strappy pair of sandals, a swimsuit, and voilà – resort ready.

The pieces we’ve pulled together for this collection are feminine, flirty, and chic. And it’s size-inclusive – there’s something for everyone. From petite to regular and plus size, it’s all here. We’ve included items with the signature ruffle neck detail from the past, brand new bodysuits made from buttery-soft Jersey fabric, and matching sets that are sure to turn heads. We’re also SO excited to introduce denim into this year’s collection (many more to come) – a staple that goes with any color or pattern. Did we mention this is the FIRST COLLECTION WE’VE EVER HAD DENIM IN!? Did we mention we’re excited?!

With Gibson’s retail presence and Cassie’s adoring fanbase, this collection is sure to be a favorite for this upcoming season of travel and getaways. And as always, our collection is available exclusively at Nordstrom.

Going behind the scenes, we had a BLAST shooting this collection with gorgeous Cassie! We really wanted to give you guys a taste of resort life, so we worked together in choosing the perfect warm setting that makes the pieces POP. At this point after five photoshoots with Cassie, there’s a rhythm, a friendship, and such expertise that’s clearly developed. If you watch her social channels you may already know that the days are filled with laughter – it almost doesn’t feel like work at all. Our favorite part of shooting this collection was arriving in Santa Barbara and seeing Cassie, Mama Sugarplum, makeup artist Suzie Moldovan, and photographer Valorie Darling all wearing Gibsonlook cozy because of the overcast skies and chilly breeze. Hey, while it’s fun to talk about resort wear and flowy maxi dresses, at the end of the day, we’re always going to need our signature “cozies” nearby. (We would be lying if we didn’t admit we live in these cozy sets!) 

All in all, we are THRILLED about the Resort 2020 collection and hope you are too. It all comes back to the idea that you don’t necessarily need to pack your bags and leave town to feel the tropics. We’re bringing resort life to you. So, here’s to enjoying this beautiful, thoughtful collection as much as we do!
